Make extra money selling rubbish!
The Selangor Government has stepped up their effort to produce a ‘cleaner state’ by offering to buy rubbish for 10 cents per kilogram. The exercise starts at Meru, Kelang. It seems that it is showing an early signs of success when the nearby area covered with rubbish previously is now almost cleared up. Anyhow, as we could have expected, some neighborhood rubbish have been ’stolen’ by people who are too obsessed with making extra money by selling rubbish. And based on the media report, guess which group of people who mostly frequent the MPK (Majlis Perpandaran Klang)? Students!
My 2 cents: It is indeed a good intention to make a place cleaner. Honestly, taking care of the cleanliness is a responsibility for every one. Now that we’re paying people to surrender their rubbish for money, I am worried that out of desperation, some group of people may steal our belongings, convert them to rubbish, and exchange them for money. But off course, let’s see what kind of results we get first. If things turn out positive for all parties, other state governments should jump into the bandwagon too.
